What makes you push the button?

How do you define a decisive moment?

I need to be mused.

There needs to be some non-verbal communication that says “that’s it”.

Having a good idea of what ‘it’ is, before you pick up the camera, seems to resonate with me, so I try to form an opinion about the thing I am shooting.

The opinion can be influenced by verbal, non-verbal, perception and memory, but at at the decisive moment, those things must come together.

In this way I think that a good photographer is probably more like a musical conductor, playing a score, than a stealing a moment.

What makes you push the button?
